About The Team

The husband and wife team of Stephen and Michelle Ladd offer a comprehensive approach to health and fitness. Together they have over twenty years of experience in the fields of corrective exercise, functional fitness, athletic conditioning and nutrition and lifestyle coaching. They founded The Human Form to fill what they considered to be a void in the current health and fitness market – a holistic model addressing the triad of health: Physical-Mental-Chemical.

Stephen and Michelle are both interns at the prestigious C.H.E.K Institute in Vista CA. Unlike most exercise professionals, C.H.E.K interns must complete intensive certification courses taught in small group settings and pass several rigorous practical examinations. Stephen Ladd has taken an unorthodox path to becoming a recognized specialist in the field of corrective exercise and fitness. As an undergraduate student, he studied psychology, philosophy, and religion. After graduating summa cum laude from Miami University, receiving BA with honors, he continued his graduate work in Comparative Religion at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

Although he was known for spending entire weekends in the library, Stephen was not simply an “egghead”. He also had an intense interest in human anatomy and movement. Thus began his study of strength and conditioning and Applied Kinesiology.

Today, Stephen’s many health and fitness certifications include:

Michelle Ladd
Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach
Exercise Physiologist

Michelle graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a BS in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. She was a varsity track athlete competing in the 800 and 1500 meter events. Over the past ten years, Michelle has continued her education in nutrition and lifestyle coaching and functional exercise conditioning.
